Guiding Question: 

How do students use their voice, choices, and local experiences to take ownership of their learning and develop as leaders who create change in their local and global communities?  

Supporting Context: 

This question is grounded in my work as a middle school ELA teacher, where I use place-based learning to connect students’local experiences to broader global systems.   By engaging in meaningful, real-world learning, students develop voice, ownership, and leadership while recognizing their ability to contribute beyond their immediate community. How does place-based literacy instruction empower students in their communities to see themselves as contributors to global conversations and change?
